Help! How do you get a teenager to tidy their room?

He had a dabble but I said he could smoke if he paid for them himself cos I certainly wasn't doing. He didn't like the thought of that.

He's a good boy really but he's just very mucky

No, because he cleaned up all (or most) of his rubbish, and he hung up his clothes and he brought his pots down. The only thing he didn't do was strip his bedding but he was up late playing X box and then woke up at 7am with a nosebleed so he went back to bed after a shower and breakfast.

I didn't want him to change his bedding and then nosebleed all over the clean sheets so all being well he can do that today.

He did well though, finally! after a few weeks worth of asking.

I'll be going in later and will help him with the finishing bits, sweeping under his bed and wiping the dust up. It will be then that i'll find out if he's just hidden his rubbish

Never mind warnings put the teenager in the black bag and post him/her to Mims for a week he will get the hint(or save the trouble black bag him/her and put him in the bin then tell em well you should feel at home there cos its cleaner than your room)

Kids are messy, its a fact of life. When my Son was a teanager, I used to tell him, its your mess, just shut the door, I dont want to see it. The one rule was, dont leave food and dirty pots hanging about. If it ever got totally disgusting, I would tell him if he did,nt sort it, I would do it for him. Starting with his "magazines" under the bed. Funnily enough, that was the spur he needed.

When Mims and I visit my brother in worthing, first thing we ask him is your room clean? normally the answer is yes ; so we say lets look he will then say yes it is getting done later lol
Bribery and corruption do not seem to work; but If we leave a bag of sweets with a member of staff it will be spick and span in minutes(he gets the staff to clean it for him and they fall for it every time)
