Re: Help! How do you get a teenager to tidy their room?
Ck, the black bags and gone really works. But you must warn him that that will be the next step. Not fair doing it first and then expecting him to swallow it. My kids went through much of a muchness. As long as it was just their stuff and it stayed on their side of the bedroom door, I don't really care ... it is their domain after all. But when it is items that belong to the family as a whole or anyone else in particular start disappearing into that black hole commonly referred to as a 'Teenage Bedroom' then it is time to get tough! Give them no more then 6 hours notice and the moment the 6 hours are up go on there, face-masked, gloved and black bags at the ready and ruthlessly turf everything out ... back of the car and to the nearest tip or charity shop!
You'll only have to do it once!
