Vehicle Number Plates.
I overheard, due to raised voices, 2 lads arguing with 2 police officers today.
They complained about being stopped for
'no reason', the police said that the back number plate on the car which they were in was illegal as it did not have the name of the company on the very bottom of the number plate which made it up.
All number plates must have it and not just a number with letters.
I have not heard of it, can anyone out there verify this please.
Re: Vehicle Number Plates.
1= as long as a number plate is properly spaced , it is legal
2= as long as a number plate is the required size it is legal
3= as long as the lettering on said number plate is within regs it is legal
why do the lawmakers not say "the number plate should be "x" size lettering must be said spaced and said hieght etc etc"
Re: Vehicle Number Plates.
they are supposed to have a postcode on in small letters which is where they were manufactured
mine don't
if you get a right jobsworth rozzer, you can get £30 fine

Re: Vehicle Number Plates.
I came across this when I had my private plates made, I didn't want some other fucker's business advertised on my car.
It is a legal requirement I think, but the bloke I spoke to said if the plate was legal as Del described there's little chance I would be pulled.
I got the plates made off the internet.
Re: Vehicle Number Plates.
Ah, interesting. I put the website address on it, wonder if that counts?![]()
Re: Vehicle Number Plates.
It would stand as the website is accepting responsibility (Just checked by Brighton plod "Mark") it would be adviseable to register the website as a non profit organisation (seemingly dont know civil law)as if any legal complications you are limited to nill?? I really dont know on this I only know family and criminal

Re: Vehicle Number Plates.
Cheers Del, I'll take that into consideration.

Re: Vehicle Number Plates.
You see loads of illegal plates every day, most of them more serious than not having a postcode on them (and that's only for new plates as well, since about 2001 I think), but nowt is done about them. There are those ones with the numbers and letters incorrectly spaced, or worse, with strategically placed bolts so that the characters look like something else. They ought to do something about them before they get someone for not having a minuscule postcode on it.
