TV21, in Manchester, boast their Challenge Burger is packed with more than 2lb of meat. It comes with onion rings, hash browns, eggs, bacon, cheese, chips and salad and is advertised as a ‘family burger’.

The vast amount of meat used puts it in the same league as the notorious 'Quadruple Bypass Burger', which hit the headlines after a Las Vegas diner served it as part of an 8,000-calorie meal.

The bar - which issues its own health warning on its website - says it will not charge anyone who finishes the whole meal, on their own, within 30 minutes and even promises a free t-shirt. Those who do not manage must pay £19.99.

The challenge is billed as a contest in the style of hit American TV show Man v. Food, in which presenter Adam Richman travels around the U.S. taking on enormous portions of local dishes.
