One that I went on there was a bloke on his own. He must have been 30 to 40 stone, he could barely fit through a doorway sidewards.
Anyhows, when the waiter would bring us a slice of melon at breakfast time, no shit he had a whole one.
There was sit down breakfast, continental breakfast, morning tea, elevenses, buffet lunch, sit down lunch, afternoon tea with cakes, evening meal, supper, endless trays of snacks in between all those and late supper if you were still up.
The Canberra was a bit posh when I went and all the meals were to die for. Evening meal was 7 courses every night and the buffets, they were works of art, the food was delish and extravagant - ice sculptures and food sculptures.
I thought it was boring though. Unless you went on an excursion - which were expensive - there was bog all to do when you docked. Some of the excursions, particularly around the Med were mega boring, wine factories and such like. When you were in sail there was stuff to do but think Jane MacDonald singing and Paul Daniels magic shows.
Cruises are mainly cash free these days, you get a card to pay for everything and you can either go to the burser and pay it off as you go along or you pay at the end. You've to pay for alcoholic drinks and services such as hair dressers and spa treatments. You have to say if you don't want to pay for tips or they'll add tips to everyone, your waiter, your room servant, bar man etc etc etc.
I did a cruise around Israel - before all the trouble - that was fabulous, went to Bethlehem, Mount of Olives, The Dead Sea, Nazareth, saw all the Jesus and God stuff. I even had a paddle in the Sea of Galilee.
