I'm always worried when I see lightning around here because it's quite scary looking. I'm sitting next to three open doors, could it not come through one of them?

Highly unlikely. The lightning will try to find the easiest path to ground. It's not going to go past the side of your house and the doors etc just to get to you. It would hit the house first.

If you want the safest place, though, sit in your car.

It's dull here, but hot and sweaty, at least in this office. And there is a van outside with loud music playing bumpety-bump, so I'm now getting a nice headache.
