Tough rock masters
Does anybody here still listens to the grand old dads of rock and metal like Led Zep, Metallica, Aerosmith, and Scorpions? I must be a real stubborn lad 'cause despite the multitude of bands and diverse varieties of rock music, I still cling to the old masters. My favorite are the scorpions.

Re: Tough rock masters
Hell yes I love Metallica they're pure awesome!
I occasionally listen to Iron Maiden too, I don't know why I don't listen to them more because I really like them. Some other various older bands too
I still listen to more recent bands too though.

Re: Tough rock masters
Yes, I love Led Zeppelin in particular.
I quite like Aerosmith. I saw them in concert once. They were brilliant. Steve Tyler is totally charismatic.
I also like Iron Maiden. I don't know Metallica or the Scorpions at all though.
I like Budgie and UFO too. Does anyone remember the Groundhogs - they're a bit obscure but I like them too.

Re: Tough rock masters
I've just recently fallen back in favour with Jimi Hendrix. I only had things an album on tape (yeah, it's been that long) so I had a mate at work put all of his stuff onto CD for me. Now I have the lot.
We went to a biker bar the other week, and they were playing Iron Maiden, and although I mocked them when I was younger, I found myself singing along. I told Mrs D I was going to have to get some of their stuff...
I'm afraid I still dislike Metallica... or in particular, Enter Sandman. The album reminds me of getting pissed 'round my friends house at weekends. He used to play it every week... He had a very limited record collection.

Re: Bands that have been knocking about for a few years, I still listen to Megadeth and Slayer, Pantera, Sepultura, Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and of course, Queen.
I gave up on Metallica many moons ago.

Re: Tough rock masters
I'd forgotten about Faith No More. I have the single of "Epic" knocking about somewhere.
It's strange but I always think of Queen as a modern band rather than an "old" band even though they've been around for donkeys years.

Re: Tough rock masters
That is strange.
Their first album came out in 1973.

Re: Tough rock masters
Yes, I don't know why really. Maybe because they're timeless, or different, or because they adapted to the times a lot, or because Brian May doesn't look any different now!
I take it you're a big fan of Queen judging by your signature Zombie. That's one of my favourites. I also like "Funny how love is", "Hammer to fall", and "Rain must fall".

Re: Tough rock masters
Funny how love is is cool.
I listened to "Queen II" this very day. It is good.
What are your faves as far as albums go?
Mine are Jazz, News of the world and The game.
The rest are also awesome but those three are pure cream!
Not heard Rain must fall for ages, I must dig out "the Miracle" forthwith!

Re: Tough rock masters
Ooh that's difficult to say Zombie. I have Queen I and II, Night at the Opera, and the Miracle. I used to have Sheer Heart Attack but someone pinched it. I also have Queen's Greatest Hits.
I like Queen I and II because they're a bit sort of ethereal, and they have some of my favourite tracks on. I forgot about the short but lovely "Nevermore" from Queen II.
I also love "These are the days of our lives". Freddie was ill at the time was he not? It makes feel sad when I hear it but I still like it.
