Cheryl Cole to record solo songs

Singer and X Factor judge Cheryl Cole is to begin working on solo material, a spokesman for Girls Aloud confirms.

He said that it was too early to say who the 25-year-old would be working with but that a number of different producers had been approached.

He said the group would "take time out" this year to work on solo projects from "music to acting to beauty to fashion".

Earlier this year, Girls Aloud signed a new record deal promising three more albums, including one in autumn 2010.

So as one who watches Girls Aloud on MTV sometimes - can any of them actually sing? Or other girl or boy band units equally known for their fitness.

Just stand there and open their beautifully dentisted mouths and - sing an unaccompanied song?

When I do watch their VTs - my first thought are of the make-up personages ready to rush in a remove that bead of sweat on the upper lip or on their brow and how long the "production" must take to perfect.
