    omg!!! Threads was amazing.

I don't know if watching it now would have the same impact but back when it was originally shown there was lots of talk about nuclear attacks and nuclear bombs and nuclear war. It was all over the news and the newspapers and it really was a big topic of conversation and a great worry for every day folk.

You'll have to remember that back then, and it's only 20 odd years ago, but we had no internet, there were no access to anything that cast an alternative view on news stories so what was reported was in the main believed, there was a real fear that there would be a nuclear war.

I remember being quite worried about it but it was in one of those ways that was a hidden fear, I didn't talk about it by day but I thought about it when I was in bed at night.

I remember quite clearly overhearing my mum say that if there was to be a nuclear attack that we would be one of the first to go as we lived near a port and she said that she hoped to god that we would just go and not have to suffer the fallout.

    It bloody was!

Back when that was made most people expected a nuclear war eventually, and Threads showed just how bad that was going to be.

It was deadly serious stuff. People that watched it talked about it for months afterwards. In fact, people that watched it back then still talk about it now. It wasn't just a film, it was like a public service announcement of what was possibly going to happen to us, no holds barred, nothing left out, pure raw don't hold back the nasty stuff.
