Really? I always thought they should have got Paul Verhoeven to direct Judge Dredd.

Dredd creator John Wagner has given the screenplay the thumbs up, and there's a cool looking Dredd fan film in the making:

It's looking highly likely that Karl Urban, who played Dr 'Bones' McCoy in the latest Star Trek movie will be the new Judge Dredd.

I thought he was very good as Bones, but Dredd? I'm not convinced.

He said he's keeping his helmet on the whole time. yay!

I read the script outline the other day and it sounds a bit shit, 'cos they only have a modest budget.

    Some things I learned:

It sounds like a sort of hostage thingy in a tower block.

    Judge Anderson is in it.

What they need to do is have Judge Death and his four killin' cousins!

I want to see this frame made a reality:

    That.............would pwn.

Yeah, I read the script outline a while ago.

It sounds perfectly fine if it's just the first act of the movie, but it seems to be what the whole film is about!

We should hammer out a proper script Mr M*.

I reckon we could do a pretty decent job.

I am a bit worried about the new movie.

Dredd's first outing with (whisper it) Stallone got a couple of things right though:

An excuse to get Hammerstein in the frame:

    The Mega-City skyline:

    Mean Angel:

Max Von Sydow as Chief Judge Fargo:

This lot did a pretty decent tune for the soundtrack:

A few reasons why it sucked large donkey balls on so many levels:

Exhibit a) Some of the effects were downright ropey, the flying bike chase sequence springs to mind.

Exhibit b) Stallone can't get his words out of his wonky mouth without the audience pissing themselves laughing.

    Exhibit c) This goon:

Exhibit d) DREDD. NEVER. TAKES. HIS. HELMET. OFF!!!

    Exhibit e) EVER!!!*

    Summing up then:

    I am the LAW!!!

    No Sir, you are NOT!!!

(at least it didn't have Walter the Wobot in it).

NB: This review was left in an iso-cube for 15 years, hence it's late arrival.
