    Default Clash of the Titans

Warner Bros are remaking the Harryhausen classic Clash of the Titans!

And it's going to star Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Jason Flemyng and Mads Mikkelsen. It sounds fucking ace.

That's a big cast. Jason Flemyng is rumored to be in it.

That'll make two clashes then. Will anyone be able to top Laurence Olivier and Maggie Smith though? Liam Neeson is good but can he match Sir Laurence?

I would say so. It's the special effects which are the crucial part anyway. Click here to enlarge

Which is what, to my thinking, made the 1981 clash such a classic. Apart from the stupendous acting by some of the cast.

I've got to say I'm more interested in how they manage to live up to Harryhausen's level than any of the acting. Harryhausen is what made it for me, this new one just won't be the same.

This will be all explosions and special effects and will have none of the charm or charisma of the original.

I wish they'd stop remaking movies as they're never as good, as concentrate on creating original stories.

Having said that about the acting I must admit that after watching it last night the biggest let down was probably just how crap Ralph Fiennes was as Hades.

Gemma Arterton was bobbins too for that matter, I don't know why she was even in it. If they just wanted some totty they should have had some half naked sword wielding hottie with her juggs hanging out.

Worthington was OK I suppose, if you could accept a demi-god raised on a fishing boat in the Mediterranean by a bloke from Warrington would have an Australian accent. Out of all the cast I think Mads Mikkelsen was very good, but what the fuck has happened to him? In Casino Royale as Le Chiffre he looked like an average sized bloke. I don't know whether it was special effects or he's been training hard but he looked the the fucking Rock in this!

It was also good to see Jason Flemying get a pretty good role, just hope he isn't going to do too well off the back of this because I was hoping to see him back in Primeval of a Saturday night.

The effects were pretty cool though, and there was a nod to Harryhausen when they pulled the clockwork owl out from the original. It looked good in 3D, but that might be because it wasn't actually made for 3D, they added that later, so they didn't overdo it. There was a trailer beforehand for Piranha 3D which showed exactly how to make a shit 3D movie. Click here to enlarge
