Crikey! I forgot about the World Cup. Which is more likely - the UK winning Eurovision or England winning the World Cup?

England's not so bad, we still have Morris dancers you know.

And Brass Bands, now they are cool.

Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, USA and Australia have brass bands.

England has Morris dancers, but no National costume, whereas almost every other country in the world has one, even Wales, Scotland and Ireland.



England are never likely to win either the World Cup or the Eurovision Song Contest ever again.

Huh, we'll see about that. You'll be sorry when England beats Brazil!

I doubt if Tim Henman will ever win Wimbledon though.

I thought our national costume was black trousers for women and jeans or combat trousers half way down their legs for men.

I could care less which team does what in football.

I watch the Six Nations rugby tournament every year and never miss a F1 race.
I support the England squad in the Six Nations, but Rugby Union supporters enjoy the game and applaud the winners, whoever they are, unlike football supporters!

I care though. I love the World Cup and go into a deep sadness when we get knocked out.

So every 4 years you're regularly saddened.

[Fenella]

Well every two years actually because I like the Euro Cup thing as well.

[SFB]

I can't remember the last time the England football team won anything other than scorn.

[Fenella]

Um, 1966 I think. However, it is a good example of the English spirit and the triumph of hope over experience.

Anyway they are not scorned here. Who could fail to be moved when David Seaman was in tears after he let in a goal from Brazil, and who could not be shocked every time England go out on penalties, which appears to be much of the time. The England team have always been rubbish at penalties but we live in hope that they will improve.

Anyway, scorned or not, I shall be hanging my flag out of the window next time!
