    Default African Safari Park

This place is about an hour away from us. It was a nice day, so we thought we'd spend the first day of the new year relaxing instead of stressing about stuff. It was a perfect day - warm, windless, blue skies, lots of animals hanging about and we more or less had the place to ourselves.

    Yeah, the zoom is good.

You do get very close up to things though, half is in the car and half is on foot. The car part on the photos stopped after the black and white painted horses, after that we were on foot. I zoomed in closer on the lion, although they were still really close up and the leopard was zoomed down on. It was stalking us as we walked along the fence, I don't know whether it thought the sound of the pushchair was similar to the sounds of the vehicles that bring them food, or whether it wanted to eat us. We ended up on a bridge very close to it, but about ten foot above it, obviously with a fence between, so I stuck the camera through the fence and zoomed down on it because it was still looking like it thought my daughter was food.

But yeah, you're close up to them when you're in the car, close enough to keep alert enough to move off if anything starts moving closer. And the walk around part is designed so that you can get close enough to them and be safe because of the natural hilly terrain between you and the animal. The flamingos aren't zoomed - you can walk right up to them and into the water if you really wanted to.

That looks like a good day out. Flamingos make me laugh with their skinny thin legs
