Brilliant. Got it on DVD though. A lot of poeple don't l;ikethe first part as much as the others, but I really liked it. The way they recreated Rivendell, Lothlorien and Moria was brilliant. And the sense of loss they felt after losing Gandalf. Classic stuff.

I've got the DVD but never watched it. I shall be watching it on TV.

Re: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring
I think all three films are superb. I like this one very much. especially the end, yet I also like certain aspects of the other films too. Easiest thing to do is treat them all as one big film, thats the way forward.
Definitely a Morningstarr classic!

Re: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring
Yes, definitely a classic. I read the book years ago, and I still remember the excitement when I went to see the first film at the flicks. The films are superbly made Masterpieces basically. Seeing it on the big screen was the best. The big spider in film 3 was really scary.

Re: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring
This is my favourite of the bunch. Although they've cut a lot from the book, and speeded the pace up a notch or two. I think this one makes the easiest transition to the big screen. There's more character development, and plot (rather than long battles).
Don't get me wrong, I love the other two. But this one is a movie you can watch again and again. A lot more appears to happen in this one - even though it is the shortest of the three!!
Also, Sean Bean as Boromir, Gandalf falls to the Balrog ("fly you fools"), the black riders (before they are called the Nazgul. All very good stuff.

All three are outstanding and make up a huge satisfying whole.
I can't (and won't) pick between them.

Re: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring
I'll agree that this is the best of the three. It's just a wonderful story, superbly made. When compared to similar fantasy based adaptations such as Harry Potter or Narnia it really shows up what a special series of films they were. They're not complicated to follow or academically intricate but if you want to see a damn fine story then you can't really go wrong.

Re: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring
When I was younger and I read the books, I always hoped that a film would be made. However, I did not think it would happen or if it did I did not think any film could do it justice. I am happy to have been wrong. Everything about them, the locations, acting, direction etc are perfect. And having been to New Zealand, I can see why it was the perfect location for the filming.
