    Default Unknown files?

Sometimes I come across files I do not recognise ... they have recognisable extensions; *.exe, *.dll and so forth but I am not sure what they relate to.

I have discovered this lovely little website where I can see whether or not they are potentially harmful ...

Virus Total - Free Online Virus Scan

Enter the file name and it will tell you. Then you can just delete the dratted thing from your list.

That's a useful site mimseycal, but just one thing to be aware of. Lots of essential system files are 'potentially' harmful.

Writing crap on the internet for way too long.

Oh, I realise that Dayus ... But because the site searches various databases you can get a rather good idea from the frequency and degree the various databases give to a single file and then make an informed rather then mere judgement call.

It is just one more tool I suppose.
