Vulcan to return to the skies
A restored Vulcan bomber is expected to take to the skies on a test flight from RAF Cottesmore
My Nana and Grandad used to live right near Barton airport and we used to go and watch the airshows when we were younger
One year they had a Vulcan bomber there. It did a low level flight until it was right over out heads and then lifted its nose and climbed vertically until it was out of sight. I was only about 12 and it was amazing. The ground was shaking and I remember feeling all my clothes flapping against me from the noise of it
I'm not obsessed by planes, but you can't help but be impressed by the Vulcan and others like the Spitfire. It's just the power and noise. I'd love to go up in one one day

Re: Vulcan to return to the skies
I love planes, and this one sounds very impressive. Hopefully I might see it flying for myself some day.

Re: Vulcan to return to the skies
No, it's a massive thing
Quite sinister looking and really impressive
It was built for the cold war, but only ever saw action in the Falklands

It was one of the "V" Bombers
Valiant, Vulcan, VictorIn 1947 the Chiefs of Staff issued Operational Requirement OR.229This demanded a 4 engined jet bomber capable of delivering a 10,000lb nuclear bomb at 500 knots from a height of 45,000ft, with a range of 3,500 miles.
