Another nail in Britain's coffin!
Yet again, I have no comment, I'll leave that to the optimistic among you.
Officers quit army in record numbers - Times Online

Re: Another nail in Britain's coffin!
But you HAVE commented. You said it in the title. Why exactly do you think it is a "nail in Britain's coffin?". In what way is Britain going to "die" and how is this going to lead to it?
When you make these statements, you really have to explain your thinking, or we will come to our own conclusions. Just a bit of friendly advice.![]()

I certainly don't 'have to explain' anything!
If you're giving friendly advice, can you please try to make it appear less condescending?
Re: Another nail in Britain's coffin!
One wonders what these officers do when they come out of the armed forces. I think they'll find that life on the "outside" isn't as easy as they think it will be.
What a hoot!

Re: Another nail in Britain's coffin!
You don't? How strange, and yet the rest of us have to , according to your rules.
It just seems to me that you are making a statement and not explaining how you come about it. After all, it does not allude to this being a nail in the UK's doffin in the article, you added that.
It's up to you how you take it.Originally Posted by SFB

They're not prisoners, Fenella, they are ordinary people like you and me. These days the forces are made out to be a "career choice" and most of them are enticed into it on that basis. They then find out it is about killing as it always, and that's why they are coming out of it. They should find something a little less demanding quite easily I would have thought.

Re: Another nail in Britain's coffin!
The reason a lot of them gave was that the army was “undermanned, undervalued and underfunded”.
That problem doesn't just apply to the armed forces.
If they think that an alternative career will be a bowl of cherries they should think again. They've been used to having a secure life with no worries and now they'll have to enter the world of market competition where they have to compete with other people, unless they want to end working as a shelf stacker of course!
Personally, I think that they're cowards to leave on those grounds. They are responsible for the men and women who answer to them, so they should stay and try and sort it out rather than run away.
Huh! How can they cope with a war if they can't cope with a few problems like that?
What a hoot!
