Drug Addiction Treatment
It was revealed today that the Government ploughed 130 million quids into drug rehabilitation treatment centres last year and increased the number of rehabilitated drug addicts by a whopping 70. That's about 1.8 million pounds per each success.
I think this is a waste of money!

Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
70 people?? Is that it?![]()
Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
Yep, that's it. They reckon there's only a 5% chance of "curing" an addict. So why bother wasting all that money?
Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
Because society feels it must do something to assist those less fortunate?
I think more needs to be done to research drug addiction and find out how to combat it successfully. It does cost the country millions of pounds, and there's the social side of things as well - in my area there's lots of junkies. There's also lots of kids running riot around here. I think the two may be connected...
Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
ive got a close family member who is an addict and at the moment he is clean, however he can never be cured and has swapped one addiction for another. Ive known addicts not touch it for ten years have one last hit and its all over. There addiction not only has aan effect on them but on there families also often tearing families apart

Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
I've heard it said that coming of herion is the hardest thing to ever do but shit 5% that's low.
Is it right that some criminals can get a lesser or a non custodial sentence if they agree to take part in drug rehabilitation or is that just something I've seen on telly?
Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
It wouldn't surprise me CK - if they show willing to play the game then I think most criminals can get time shaved off their sentence.
Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
they tend to do that as often the crime has been commited due to there drug addiction. To be honest once your on that shite there is no hope for you. Ive seen people come of it and stay of it but they are always lured back to it in the end
Re: Drug Addiction Treatment
If they legalised drugs and sold it more responsibly, while simultaneously increasing the punishment of illegal dealers then the individual should be made responsible for their own actions.
If the addict turns to crime, they should be punished for their crimes.
