Ben Affleck - Missing Madeleine
Affleck may pull film his new film out of respect for Madeleine McCann.
Gone Baby Gone, the directorial debut of the actor Ben Affleck, recounts the tragic tale of a four year old girl who is snatched from her bed as her mother leaves her alone in the house. What is more, the child actress playing the role shares Madeleine's first name, Madeline O'Brien, and is said to look very much like her. The Disney film which bears striking similarities to the story of 'missing' Madeleine may be pulled from our screens for fear of offending the family of the missing four-year-old.
Affleck, who is presenting the film, which is due out in November, at the Deauville Film Festival in France, says that he is prepared to take steps to prevent it from being released in Britain.
"We are acutely aware of the situation," he says. "We have a greater concern for that than the release of our film, which is just a commercial matter, whereas this is a matter of life and death. I'm not up to date on the details and it is not something that has taken off in the United States in the way it has in the UK. It is only when someone said there was this case that was very similar to my film that we looked it up.
"We don't want to release the movie if it is going to touch a nerve or inflame anybody's sensitivities."
Interestingly, the tagline for the movie is Everyone Wants The Truth... Until They Find It.

If every film was pulled for risk of offending someone, they'd be no films left for us to watch.They don't have to watch it!
