Yeah maybe they are. But at least they are not spineless like the majority of my British countrymen. If the French Govt tried some of the stunts our Govt gets away with routinely the French would go out and riot and give their Govt a reality check. Good luck to them.

I see that the topic has already changed to one about the UK, rather than the alleged arrogance of the French. However, on this occasion I do appreciate your diplomatic approach.

I wouldn't necessarily say the British were spineless but I do think they can be very complacent about things. I've often thought that the people here aren't very interested in things which don't directly affect them, but then maybe that's the same everywhere. Even when things do affect people directly many just shrug and say they can't do anything about it. I'm not very complacent myself so that attitude does sometimes annoy me.

Well I've never met an arrogant French person. Yes, they're proud of their country and the language, but that doesn't make them arrogant - it makes them proud to be French.
