People who google ? Are they in need of help.

Does it piss you off that people rely on Google before getting an opinion at all ?
Are they misfits without knowledge of their own and rely entirely on Google search engine to form an opinion,do such people piss you off as much as they piss me off.
People relying on google are of limited intelligence in my opinion.
What do you think ?

This is of major interest to me.
I should have been a psychiatrist but unfortunately never went to school,oh boy, I am such a loser in desperation 1 in a million times I have to Google to form an opinion.

I use Google to find out facts or figures, but not for opinions. I have my own opinions, so I would only use Google if I wanted to back up my opinion with a fact or to confirm what I already thought was true.

I would also use it to post a link to an article which I thought was interesting.

I totally understand that,I want a conversation with the person not google.
google is fab but using itv to prove intelligence or superiority proves a lack of originality to me.

That's what I think. I want to know a person's own opinion, not somebody else's. The internet is full of opinions, some of which are based on fact and some which are not.

Obviously if you start a thread based on something which has happened it is sensible to put a link to the story so everyone knows what's happened, or you could put a link to someone's opinion just to start a debate, but the internet is not something that should be a substitute for your own thoughts.

I think a lot of school kids or students are in danger from this sort of thing. Colleges have really had to clamp down on plagarism because it's so easy to cut and paste something you've read on the internet, and it's so easy just to take someone else's opinion and pretend it's your own.

You do it in a good way though,things I would never have seen,some do it to put you down or try to embarass you.

Like Fenella says, Google is a source of information. It is just one source of information though, and there are countless others, inlcuding living through daily life. Information can then be used by the individual to create knowledge. Some do this better than others. Some people's knowledge is very scant, despite receiving lots of information every day. Others can build their knowledge much better, by good use of information sources, experience of daily life and a good dose of common sense.

Opinions are another thing. If you use your knowledge, built up from the aforesaid things, to form your opinions then fine, but most people do not. Most people just have opinions and give little thought to how they have come to form them. I would rather discuss opinions with someone who at least has some knowlegde of the subject, than those who do not, and today, like it or not, Google is one of the resources that can be used, among others as I have said.

Strange, people that use resources to gain knowledge to then base their opinions on piss you off?

If you are going to have an opinion I prefer it to be an educated one, not just gobshite.

My opinions on forums come from me, but I might've used google sometime in the past for me to arrive at that opinion - it's still my opinion though. It's all knowledge and shouldn't matter where it comes from. Would you say the same for people who read a book before giving an opinion?

No of course it doesn't. I do use google a lot to find stuff out. It's just that some people rely on it totally and don't have their own opinions, they just quote stuff they've read on the internet all the time.
