I have walked away smiling when some dumb assed assistant has obviously wrongly charged me, twice on shoez is an example.

I'm surprised how many people are supposed to be doing it. I don't think it's possible in the supermarkets I've been in, but I know people do it at Ikea because I've seen them getting caught. There's usually a checkout assistant that stands at the side of you while you're swiping things through, but just in case they missed something, there's usually a security guard just after the tills that randomly stops people to check their receipt.

I'd never do it.

If you cant afford it dont get it! having said that if someone has nothing through no fault of thier own and they have to eat or feed thier kids wtf not???

I once accidentally walked out of a supermarket with a trolley full of shopping.

I had a load of shopping and it was all going through fine but there was some sort of problem with something i'd bought so the checkout lady said to sort that item out at the customer service desk. She put my shopping on some sort of hold or cancelled transaction - not sure and got someone to walk with me to sort it out (all my other shopping was all bagged up in the trolley). Anyways, there was a kerfuffle at the desk with some old people complaining and it all took ages so when it got to my turn she just asked me how much the item was, I told her, I paid her and left.

I realised when I was walking to the car that I hadn't paid for all the other stuff in the trolley but daren't go back in case they thought i'd stole it on purpose, I panicked cos of stuff i'd read in papers about how things can go all wrong. But then when I was driving home I worried that i'd get accused of theft anyway.

OH made it totally worse cos when I explained he just said I was a dirty thief and there was no excuse and no court in the land would believe that I didn't know what I had done

I took a deodorant without paying once. It was just rolling about in the bottom of the trolley when I went to put the stuff in the car and I knew I'd not put it on the conveyor belt. I felt all panicky when I realised I'd not paid for it, but I didn't go back in. I just shiftily looked around to check I'd not been followed and quickly closed the boot and left. I think if it was a full trolley I would've gone back in though.
