The new regime means that, in theory, every food item that is hotter than the surrounding ambient air temperature will be liable for 20 per cent VAT.

So does that mean that in the winter when it's below zero, we could have to pay extra VAT on normal temperature stuff?

From what I can see, normal takeaways aren't covered by this increase anyway.
