Pornography
Who would like to be the first to try to define it?
Where does erotica end and pornography begin in any art form or even so called art form?
I have formed my own conclusions over the years, but it's doubtful that many will agree with them.
If our younger member FreeB would care to contribute I'd be grateful, but also shocked if he bothered.![]()
NB: Word of warning.
This subject has been discussed in the American Congress and many other places over the years and a final definition has yet to be agreed, but never will be.
Why?
Simply because the rules and boundaries are ever changing.
Re: Pornography
Pornography is easily defined, it's in the dictionary.
It's the material in question which is tricky to categorise, and pornographers will argue their material isn't pornography.
Re: Pornography
I've always thought they were same thing, just different ways to describe it.
Re: Pornography
Porn is intended to stimulate erotic, rather than aesthetic or emotional response.
That's where the edges blur, and it's difficult to prove intent.

Hopefully you'll see!Apparently you decided it is!![]()
Possibly why you have problems elsewhere, not fully understanding or coming to terms with decision making?Originally Posted by Fenella

Re: Pornography
That's the English Dictionary definition. I'd say it was spot on.
Re: Pornography
That's an old definition, much too brief and oversimplified. I think you'll find that it's not that easy to explain if you delve into it. It took the US Supreme court through many thousands of pages in 1972, they still had problems with determining it and eventually failed.
What I'm seeking here are individual ideas, not OED's.
We all hold differing values on most subjects.
