Kidney for sale.

Have you heard the story about the bloke who tried to sell one of his kidneys for Â£24,000 to help him get out of debt?

He's been prosecuted under a new law which forbids the sale of body parts. He escaped jail but has been fined Â£250 and given a 12 month suspended sentence.

I can understand that you can't really go around selling other peoples body parts, and I can sort of understand that selling your own lung might lead to complications costing the tax payer (NHS) but why can't he sell his kidney? It's not like just the rich would win, he was never going to give it up for nothing, someone with the funds was prepared to buy it therefore freeing up a space on the list for someone else. Everyone's a winner.

That's what I was thinking, if organs can be found I don't see the problem where they come from.

Kerry Packers helicopter pilot 'donated' one of his kidneys to him. Always wondered if Packer had just been a normal every day person and not the richest guy in Australia would of the pilot been so generous.
(wonder if Packer donated any of his organs when he turned his toes)
