    Default STREET LIGHTING.

Would you agree to councils switching off or reducing STREET LIGHTING at night to save money?

    Heard it on the wireless.

I suppose in certain locations it could be done but will it increase crime?

Interesting reading regarding street lighting, crime and the perception of crime.

I don't know whether it'll increase crime or not, but I don't like the idea of it. Dim them, yes, but turning them off altogether is not good. I live on a newly built street with just a handful of houses, so the only reason to come up here is if you live here. With it being so new, we only get maybe two street lights at the moment, but it feels safe.

Last winter they turned them off for some reason and I really didn't like it because it made me feel vulnerable living on such a quiet street and not being able to see if someone was walking by or lurking around the house . Round about the same time they also took it in turns to turn off certain streets in the town at well, so I had to find another way around because I was just too scared to go down them. Anything or anyone could've been lurking in the middle and I'd have felt trapped.

Hmmm, so we're going to have street lighting that doesn't light up streets? Bonkers Britain strikes again.

Fuck all street lighting off and give me some money back.

I'm not scared of the dark.

If they're worried about the bill they should put little windthingies on top of each post to generate electricity, or hamsters on wheels.
