    You said it was human nature. And if societies mores don't control that what does? Either the person has a different set of morals, in which case your argument that morality is defined by society can't be true, or they simply have no morals which again means that society isn't controlling their morality. It clearly comes from within.

    You don't need society to have morals, and you can act on them however you see fit. Society merely enforces rules, not morality. You've just admitted that some people will not go along with societies mores, so it obviously doesn't control morality.

    Certainly it comes from within but only because it has been acquired through the process referred to as socialisation ... you know those years parents/carers supposedly spent training (for want of a better word) the offspring.

    I cannot recall stating at any time that society controls morality. You seem to be far more concerned with the issue of control. I merely maintain that society holds the moral view of its age ...

    So you believe that if you take an individual and shield them from society they will turn out immoral?

    So how did morality ever evolve? Morality sets the standard for society, someone has to have the idea in the first place.
