    Hi


    Just checked our Emails, a friend that worked with us in trouble with his new employer.

    He was summoned by his manager his morning about 9-30 (starts work at 08:00) & told that he was suspended on full pay because an 'incident' was brought to his attention that brought his companies good name into disrepute = kind of standard jargon when companies sack people.


    He tells us that last week Wednesday he was being abused by a customer on the phone and he put the phone down on him. Customers calls back and complains and his supv did not back him up & he was pissed off. The same day he posts on the web, social networking site that 'some people deserved what they got and he was really pissed off and could rear end certain people'!

    ((He claims he's not mentioned his work place once on the site but has a few women and men friends work on his site/social networking site.

    He believes his ex girl friend sent a copy of his post to his employer & they ill sack him when they see him Monday.

    Does he have rights???

    He works for a g bank!

    We have Emailed him and stated central gov policy that he has a duty to main he good name of the organisation, inside and outside work & big orgs follow this line. So he has little chance keeping his job. He is a arse licer and works very hard,comes early, leaves late & works weekends as required.

    Will it get sacked - what is the law and its rights.

    I don't think they have a case unless he mentions them directly.

    They sound paranoid to me

    We ave read that people have been fired without mentioning names.

    We hve advised him to join a union asap and take legal advice via law centre - we called him earlier - he sounded down and out.

    It's not right that people can be sacked for saying something as ambiguous as the above.

    If he has made mention to an incident which could be pinpointed with clarity then they could have him on some stupid works regulations but if he hasn't then .. well really, what it would boil down to is if he can say with conviction that he was taking about something else I suppose.

    I don't like the way it's going with people not being able to say how they feel (on the internet) without fear of reprisals. This wouldn't have happened if he'd have muttered the same opinion in the boys toilets.

    This terminology 'bringing the goo name of the co/org ivto disrepute' is the biggest load of fucked faced shit around - look at the mp's the f1 guy caught out with te girls/etc/etc
