Default Don't Eat Near Ramadan Fastuz.

    More taxpayuz money wasted.
Ramadan fastuz would IMO move out of the way of anyone eating if they were concerned.
Seems like a pc twack trying to justify their existence to me.

Don't eat near Ramadan fasters, Home Office staff told

Home Office staff were officially warned not to eat in front of their fasting Muslim colleagues during Ramadan – in case it made them feel hungry.

The advice came in a taxpayer-funded internal document listing do’s and don’ts during the Muslim holy month, which ends this weekend.

But the guide is now at the centre of a row with Islamic groups who said it was more likely to incite hatred of Muslims than promote understanding.

Utter stupidity and certainly not what fasters would ask. I only ever fast on Yom Kippur and many a time this happened to be a working day as well ... So you work! No problem with people around me eating or drinking ... after all to fast is my choice. I've also worked along side Muslim colleagues ... their attitude was the same as mine. In fact, we would find it extremely irritating when people made a point of not eating or drinking ... hiding their sandwich remains or quickly putting their half drunk coffee mugs behind a hastily erected pile of files or in a half open drawer.

Jesus, how much taxpayer's money did it cost to distribute an internal document?

Non-sense! Why would they actually even bother to spend tax payer's money to come up with a stupid memo like this? I've worked along many Muslim colleagues and none of them felt that they needed special consideration from our part, let alone not to eat. Fasting is a choice they make according to their religion and they don't expect anyone else around them to starve themselves because they are not eating. It would've pissed me off to see people hiding their food while they were in my presence if I were the one fasting.

Two minute cut and paste from last years doc plus cost of sheet of A4.

    10p, 20p?

    Divide that by 45million taxpayers...

It's sad times we live in when a document is needed to promote a bit of courtesy towards people. Even worse that people being asked to be courteous can be seen as some kind of way of inciting race hate.

The muslim guys here we fasting for a month, it's not easy for them all and they do get fucking hungry at times. They're way too polite to ask me to not eat in front of them, but it is my own way of thinking that dictates that I'm not going to march into their office munching a bacon sarnie, even thought I'm well within my rights to do so. Me exercising every single right I have is less important than trying to help people.

When something like this is likely to promote racial hatred rather than understanding, I realise that even though I love the UK, there's a lot I hate about it too.

Well what was the point of the document? Have people been eating in front of fasting Muslims?

Like you say, it's just common courtesy maybe there simply wasn't a need for this document. And if some people are just ignorant to Islamic festivals what's the problem with that?

No point to the document at all. Even less point to this 'storm in a teacup' then in most pointless memos ...

I have run out of toilet paper - I think i'll run down to the shops and pick up the latest copy of the Daily Mail.

Shame I can't wipe my arse on the internet version too.

I know to some people this would be seen as blasphemy.

It's as bad as drawing a turban on a cartoon of Bernard Manning.

Send your Jihad to Zombie Mastermind - he takes on all-comers and does not suffer fools but gets bored of internet arguments very quickly for they are ultimately pointless as you cannot argue with stupidity (to quote Jermaine Jackson).

    Thanks.
