You find yourself face to face with a chav with a knife.
Jump up and down is the advice Tony McNulty MP gives.![]()
A Home Office minister has suggested people "distract" potential criminals while waiting for police to intervene. Asked by Jeremy Vine what people should do when confronted by anti-social behaviour, Tony McNulty MP agreed that jumping up and down could help.
These people are running our Country!!!!!Jeremy: You see a young man looking aggressive, shouting at an old woman, what do you do? You retreat and ring the police?
Tony McNulty: I think you should in the first instance. It may well be the simply shouting at them, blowing your horn or whatever else deters them and they go away.
Jeremy: He's now hitting her and the police haven't come, what do you do then?
Tony McNulty: The same the same, you must always ...
Jeremy: Still wait?
Tony McNulty: Get back to the police, try some distractive activities whatever else.
Jeremy: What jump up and down?
Tony McNulty: But I would say you know sometimes that that may well work.Or should that be ruining?

I say, give the man four nuckles square in the middle of his forehead.

Panorama is doing a programme investigating whether people should fight back and what they can do if the police are not present. It airs next Monday.
It also questions the confusing advice about the best way to react after reading a leaked Home Office initiative with the slogan 'Don't moan, take action it's your street too'.![]()
'Should I Fight Back' will be broadcast on Monday 15 January at 2030 on BBC One.

The goverment and the police are a bunch of muppets.
I wouldnt mind watching as someone kicked the crap out of Tony McNulty, or even better, Tony Blair.
Re: You're find yourself face to face with a chav with a knife.
A very "Oirish" Scot said the following in The Untouchables. Perhaps it explains the gun culture to us all if Government Ministers' are issuing such advice.
"You wanna know how you do it? They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone/chav. Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that?"

Nobody in their right mind would fight back if the chav/whoever is armed!
You might want to revise the topic header Ck, it's awfully bad grammar!
Re: You're find yourself face to face with a chav with a knife.
I must be out of my mind then. I wouldn't stand by and watch someone get mugged.
The police are unreliable, nothing wrong with a bit of vigilance.
