Exactly. And although people should be aware of what language not to use, they might not be aware and let's face it these things are changing all the time, so people need to have warnings and oonly get dimissed if they persist.

Re: Golliwog Axing.
I dont get people though, who, when they know something will cause offence, just go ahead and say it. Its just a lack of respect, for other peoples feelings.
When I was a kid, we had two cats, one called Blackie, one called Nigger. We used to stand on the step, calling them in. That was in the 60's. There is NO WAY we would name our pets like that, nowerdays. We did'nt even associate the names with an insult, just colours. But times have changed. For the better, IMO, so people have to change with them.
Re: Golliwog Axing.
Haha, I hope that swear filter is still working for some people.![]()
Re: Golliwog Axing.
But it was a colour, ****** Brown, was quite popular, as I recall.
To put the colour question to one side. Golliwogs are a caricature of a Black person. Cabbage patch kids, are (usually) white. I would be bleedin insulted, if someone compared me to a cabbage doll. So, on that level alone, to be reffered to as having "gollywog ears" is cheeky.
Re: Golliwog Axing.
Many a time I have been called a 'long streak of piss'.
Some may say that is offensive but I would NEVER let it contribute to someones sacking.
I might smack someone up the lughole though.
Be serious now guys, no pizz taking.
Re: Golliwog Axing.
If you are in public you need to know what is ok to say and what isnt. So if that 'Bum candle'thinks its ok to call a black man a golliwog in public in 2009 he has obviously had too many trips in the DeLorean and is struggling to distinguish between the past and the present.

Re: Golliwog Axing.
Maybe but I still don't think it warrants a dismissal on the first offence. That should be reserved for really serious stuff like violence etc.
