    Default Royal Mail

What is going on with royal mail lately? I know people were complaining about the new price structure - but has this effected deliveries at all.

My father-in-law sent some christmas presents two weeks before christmas and they still haven't arrived. After checking - they've been all over the UK and France and are now in a depot somewhere in France (even though the address is right).

We don't have a problem sending stuff from here - mail usually tastes 3-4 days to the UK (and that was over christmas). I may as well save them for next year at this rate.

...just to add - it's actually cheaper now to fly over personally with a package, then it is with royal mail.

My mum sent some games over for my son and they took 3 weeks.

I think it depends on where they come from AB. Just had a cheque delivered here today, posted on the 7th in the UK. Arrived this morning. Then again, we're still waiting for some documents from the UK bank to close our account there. 4 weeks and counting!

No problems here, we only get a weekly delivery and most mail arrives in good time.

There was a cheque in with the parcel, so he's cancelled it and is sending another - that'll probably arrive before the package. At least my son will have another christmas when it arrives.

Surely if they're not reaching you it's the French postal service to blame?

When you send stuff out they can deliver it to somewhere as general as 'England', the the Royal Mail take over and it reaches it's final destination.

Too right M, the Spanish postal service varies, where we first lived it was non existent, here it's 95%, but as we rely on the post for very little it's not a problem.
