Molly's mother drops custody case
The mother of Molly Campbell has dropped the custody case in offer for regular contact with the 12 year old. Molly left Scotland for Pakistan without her mother's consent last August.

Re: Molly's mother drops custody case
It's about time she came to her senses. Not an easy thing to do I can imagine, but the kid should be allowed to make her own mind up about who she wants to live with without being dragged through the courts.
Re: Molly's mother drops custody case
I know what your saying ck but this is a 12 year old child, who at the moment wants to be with her father, whos to say next year that she might want to be with her mother, its not like she lives down the road.

Re: Molly's mother drops custody case
I agree with you there playme.
This is very similar with me and my daughter - so I know how the mum feels. In the paper, when it's put in black and white, it seems obvious to just let her be with her dad. Her mum will know her temperament better then anyone.
I knew (and still know) what's best for my daughter because I know her better then she knows herself. It's hard when two parents don't work together because the child plays one off against the other. My daughter was going through a difficult stage and if her dad would've worked with me instead of trying to get 'one up on me' she wouldn't have the attitude problem she has now. He allowed her to have tantrums and get away with murder - I was strict, so I lost out. He never had anything to do with her whilst she was growing up, so couldn't possibly know what's best for her now. He just leaves her to run riot and treat everyone like pooh because he can't cope with her. He's brought it on himself though because he 'showed' her that it was okay to just do what you want.
Re: Molly's mother drops custody case
Just remember where the Mother is living right now, and maybe it's not the right place for the girl.
Personally I'd love to live there, but a 14 year old girl?
Cheers,
Chris.

Re: Molly's mother drops custody case
I think there's more to it then that - the girl says she doesn't want to see her mum or speak to her. That makes it sound like the mother is some wicked witch who beats her. My daughter is exactly the same - I've never mistreated her in any way. If you asked her, she'd say she didn't like France and the French - but when I offered to go back to England, she changed her mind and said it was her step-dad. I told her she meant more to me, so I'd leave him...she was just making excuses to go where she could get away with anything.
You can't always allow a child to do what they want to do - you have to make decisions for them because they don't know what they want themselves half the time.
It looks to me like the mum has given up through pure, mental and emotional exhaustion.
