    Default Hindu-Open Funeral Pyre.

A Hindu has been turned down by a judge to be allowed to be cremated on a open funeral pyre.

I personally disagree with having open funeral pyres in this country and anyone who lives here should abide by our laws.

It could be quite distressing for some people to witness.

The next thing that some people will want is to be sailed down the Tyne on a funeral fire barge.

He did abide by the law. He went to court and asked for permission. It was turned down.

As for it being distressing to witness ... I don't suppose that had it taken place that anyone would have been forced to watch!

I think they should allow it, what harm can it do?

I wonder if his widow will also commit Suttee where she flings herself on the pyre?
It is in excrutiatingly poor taste, but the thought of people saying "Bye Bye Suttee, Bye Bye"
    Sorry

Well, that's a full and finely crafted opinion.
