    Default Potholes-Natural Traffic Calming-Council.

Do not the councils of this little island have a duty of care towards people, motorists.
If people start suing negligent councils it may cost them more money than repairing said roads.

Daily Express | UK News :: Sorry we can’t fill potholes, they slow the traffic down

SORRY WE CAN’T FILL POTHOLES, THEY SLOW THE TRAFFIC DOWN

SKINFLINT councilors want to leave potholed roads untreated for a year.

They claim the rutted routes – which they describe as “original traffic calming measures” – will force drivers to cut their speeds and save time, money and lives.

Adrian Enkel, vice-chairman of the parish council in the Essex village of Navestock, said the plan was “worth a shot”.

He added: “We’ll see how it goes. The roads here have a natural speed limit because of the state of the surface.”

Perhaps if they stop emptying the bins we'll stop throwing stuff away, oh, hang on they're doing that already.
Just had a water fight over the park with a bunch of local kids.

This won't work. They'll get more claims for damage and they DO have a duty to maintain the roads. It'll backfire on them big time.

Brighton and Hove council are blaming the highways agency , the highways agency are blaming the council as the highways agency are responsible only for major link roads and motorways

Bloody hell, surely they must be able to agree who is responsible for what? If it ain't a trunk road then the council is responsible. Simple.

It gets even more complicated then that ... some pieces of road belong to Housing, others belong to Brighton & Hove City Council and still others are, yes even in this sprawling metropolis , privately as opposed to publicly owned.
