Doctors issued a new warning on the dangers of buying drugs over the internet after it emerged one in four has treated patients made ill by them.
People face a "minefield" when it comes to purchasing online, with many sites offering fake medicines and promoting online doctors and advisers who have no professional qualifications.
According to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB), more than two million people in the UK regularly buy medicines over the internet.
It says that while some online pharmacies are legitimate, in many cases the medicines purchased from websites are counterfeit, substandard or unapproved new drugs - which all put patients at risk.

I would have thought that common sense alone would have told people that. Oh well, yet more evidence that contrary to popular opinion, some people manage to go through life without employing any thinking processes at all.

Re: Doctors Warning-Buying Drugs On The Internet
Come on guys, these people are desperate.
Pound to a pinch of shit that many are weight loss pills.
Rich folk used to go to Harley Street and get speed to aid weight loss, or whatever they want. Amazing that the more you offer a quack the less inhibited they are.
An old scam which is still going is the sale of sex drugs.
Who is going to go to the police if, after taking the tablets, your dong does not look like a riot policemans baton?![]()
Just had a water fight over the park with a bunch of local kids.
I won!
No one's a match for me and my kettle.

Re: Doctors Warning-Buying Drugs On The Internet
The problem is that you have no safeguards and no idea what is in the drugs. Very stupid to even consider it IMO.

Re: Doctors Warning-Buying Drugs On The Internet
I think, like most scams, they just prey on the vulnerable and the desperate.
I have heard of drugs that won't be prescribed because of the cost to the NHS being available to buy on-line. I'd probably be sorely tempted if I thought that they could help a loved one survive but I know it's a minefield so what a quandry to be in.
