We share the world with pure evil people
Couple fleeced lonely millionaire out of farm and made him live in squalid barn | Mail Online
To let them get away with it sends totally the wrong message.
Hope the family's successful in getting the farm back.
Just had a water fight over the park with a bunch of local kids.
I won!
No one's a match for me and my kettle.

reading this article has left me dumfounded again by our system of justice or the lack of it ,reading it and how this poor old man was treated by this cold hearted pair leads me to think the charge should not have been a lesser one than manslaughter ! you can get two years for common assault !

Re: We share the world with pure evil people
What evil greedy bastard twats.
They should be done for fraud, cruelty and manslaughter. Two years for what they did is a joke.
Re: We share the world with pure evil people
Agreed Ck. But I must agree with thedelboy as well. Where were these 'caring' relatives while all this was going on? It isn't just the authorities that have a duty of care for the vulnerable in our society.
Re: We share the world with pure evil people
In my personal experience the authorities do not give a flying fuck.
My wifes gran lived in sheltered housing.
Once quite astute she sadly started with dementia. Some local scumbag began calling on her, we would visit and find two plates with the remains of sandwiches she'd made for the twat whilst they rifled the flat stealing money etc.
The police said that, not only had she let them in so it wasn't burglary, they also said that news spreads fast and expect others to jump on the bandwagon.
The home help thought we'd got the pension/book, WE thought the home help had it.Some young girl had it.
We used to park down a side road for hours waiting to see if anyone called, no result.
They even stole her microwave, whilst she was making them a cup of tea.
The last straw came when one of 'em ripped a gold chain off her neck.
All the time we were trying to sort this we were onto the social services trying to get her into a nursing home. The absolute bastards did not want to know.
"We feel that Mrs Walker will benefit more from the knowledge that she is in her own home"
Near the end she was reduced to walking around the local shops asking for money for food.
Eventually, after the chain incident, the Social Services grudgingly agreed.
We asked the police to keep an eye on her flat, they cited lack of manpower yet a panda used to lurk 300 yards away looking for errant motorists. They warned me about lying in wait, my angry riposte nearly got me arrested.
An ironic aside was that they sent a council supervisor to interview her prior to her going into the home.
At a later meeting the Social Services quoted us EXACTLY how many bank/building society books were in the flat. My gran did not know who she was by then, the toe-rag had searched through her drawers.
Nice people.

I know that in some way it seems as if you have to hit rock bottom and beyond before the authorities will move. And then you will probably get blamed for not having dealt with the matter earlier.
In a way the authorities are protected from having to be answerable in a way that private individuals are not. (Maybe because of all those safeguards we as employees expect from our employers?)

Re: We share the world with pure evil people
Unfortunately though, the family memebrs don't have a legal duty of care in these circumstances. The ones who were in the wrong were the perpetrators, and the law can only punish them and no-one else. Therefore the penalty should be a proper deterrent and not as weak as the one they have been given.

I realise that Timey ... That is the saddest fact of all. We have become so reliant on the RULE of law.
