What's the crack with that Little Britain sketch, where he's clearly not even a proper gay nevermind the only one in the village?

Are their gay's who simply do it to be fasionable?

Whereas I find the only gay in the village funny, I can't say I can pinpoint what his actual hang up is.

Treandy to be gay is as insulting as people calling anything that is rubbish, Gay.

    HAPPY NEW YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

    Happy New Year.

Insulting, yes. But does that mean it doesn't happen?

What? That you suddenly decided to be gay because it's trendy?

I can only speak from my experience, but I was born that way. I think you would have to be bi-sexual and then somehow specialise in only being gay latter on.

But to do it to be "trendy" makes no sense at all and belittles what it is to be gay.

Some still do find it funny, a joke; but these are the people who haven't been taken to a carp park and punched and kicked until black and blue just for being gay, like I have.

The biggest joke being some religious Prat saying that I chose to be gay - Who the hell would chose that given a choice?

Straight people don't get to chose, why therefore does anyone think that it's any different for gays.

People talk about acceptance, yet failed to ask if "acceptance" was what we wanted - It's not. What we need people to see, is no difference, just a variation in sexuality.

So we move into 2007 STILL paying equal taxes as straight people yet STILL our government will not allow us to get married if we so wish.

Bigus' New Year message to the Nation therefore has to be one of hope. A hope that by 2008, we will be seen for what we truly are; no different, with the same hope and desires as any human.

    Happy New Year.

I think you misunderstood what I was asking.

What I'm talking about is clearly 'fake' gays. Are you saying they definitely don't exist?

I'm not saying that you have made a choice, but I'm asking whether you know of people in the gay 'scene' who are just bogus. I would imagine if there were they are the ones who are belittling everything you are. I could believe it does go on, and assumed that that is what Matt Lucas was having a dig at with his character.

The way homosexuals are portrayed in the media these days doesn't show the negative aspects of being gay, it is portrayed as being trendy. So do people jump on the bandwagon?

That's an interesting concept. So basically the only one in the village character is not gay and so shuns any attempt to meet or have a relationship with one in case he will get found out by not "performing" ?

That would certainly fit and make sense.

As for these alleged Fake Gays on the scene, I have honestly no idea as I'm about as far from the gay scene as possible.

All I can ask is WHY? What is the point for them to do it?
Or put another way, what is it that they imagine is wonderful about my life that they are queueing up to do?

I mean they obviously don't want the sex, so why is it so wonderful?

And are they picking on a gay stereotype that doesn't really exist - I mean I'm rubbish at cleaning and have no interior design skills and no dress sense.

I'll do some googling and try and find out what part of (imagined) gay life they are copying.

It my be "COOL" being a gay on the London nightclub scene, (a bit like dressing up for one night of The Rocky Horror Picture Show) but all gays don't party all night (but then straight people can party as well) ?!?!?!

Or put yet another way: What are the possitive things they show of gay on TV - They are mostly all camp stereotypes who do the majority of gays no favours at all.

    All very strange to me

EDIT: Mind you, every single female Big Brother contestant seems to say they are gay or bi-sexual just to sound more exotic than they really are.

It amuses me how little people know about homosexuality and bisexuality.
I was almost fully aware of the difference when I was at school in the 50s.

We're all conceived as a mixture of male and female, our stronger sexuality doesn't always make itself plain until the inny becomes an outy and that doesn't always happen properly.

I shouldn't have started this message today, my brain is slightly fuzzy from last night/this morning, so I'll leave this for someone to laugh at and continue at a more appropriate time.

I tend to agree with mr m about some people 'pretending' to be gay - purely because of that sort of thing on bb. I tend to think it's women who maybe do it more then men though. Men are gonna get the sh*t kicked out of them more then likely - but women 'become' more appealing to men if they can say they're attracted to other women. I don't get it at all - but it seems obvious to me that some people do say it just for some kind of attention - whether it's good or bad.

That's the part that bugs me really, a lot of gays do fit in with the stereotyping. I mean, that can't be natural it must be done on purpose.

I've also heard gays using these stereotypes to judge other people, it just seems weird that people would play up to their stereotypes. That's what I don't get about camp gays, and the way gays are portrayed in the media. As you say, like the BB contestants.

I usually find everything funny - but I don't know which part I'm supposed to be laughing at.
