    Default Shoplifting.

If you witness such would you report it there and then?

Give reasons for yes or no.

Yes I would and because all shoppers bear the cost of shoplifting.

No because I'm lazy and shops wouldn't cut prices even if they caught every shop lifter out there.

I believe they would not reduce prices, just like car insurance.

If you were on holiday miles from your home would you still report shoplifters Mims?

Would you be prepared to travel a long way to give evidence in court Mims, because it is possible that it could happen.

one law for celebrities who shoplift ! and one for the little old lady who makes a genuine mistake and still gets dragged to court ! im not talking of the real shopliffters who tend to make a living out of it they should have the full wieght of the law thrown at them !

For better or worse I told staff at the piccadillly waterstone's about a guy shop lifting copies of Arena magazine. The trampy type dumped them by the door once he saw me staring at him. The manager was greatful said I " ...had probably stopped him." No free Waterstone's voucher which i thought i might get, or at least a medal recognising my brilliant shop-lifter intimidating stare technique.

This was a better outcome than i had previously had when i "stopped" a shop-lifter running from my somerfield (i worked there) with booze! I heard the manger shouting from the window and hid like a coward before clothes-lining the bugger, ofcourse this was dumb. One of the bottles smashed and i could have ended up with an assault charge. Instead, police statement, shoplifter was convicted, i got an employee award and a bonus pay, they still made me work the deli (the bastards) and i left the job a week later before him and his mates came back.

I can't help it, if i see a shop-lifter working I might try and stop them or tell someone. Not sure why.

Maybe i should be a policeman?

If needs be. If we expect the rule of law to protect us, our nearest and dearest and our meagre or otherwise possessions then we must stand up and accept being counted when that rule of law needs upholding.
