Default GP Refuses Stroke call Out.

It is apparent that older folk are almost frightened to call their GPs surgery for help because of those horrible bleedin receptionists giving them grief.
They are stroppy and act like gods and try to decide what is best for you whan that is the job of the actual GP.
I must add that I do not have any complaint about my, our GP and surgery.

I often hear that 'I can't get a appointment for a whole week'.

I believe more and more people bypass the surgery and opt to go straight to hospital for emergencies nowadays because of difficulty trying to get through to these other type medical care facilities.

This case is disgraceful and heads should roll.

Misdiagnosis are a tragedy and I am sure that they are not made intentionally.

Are you claiming that the misdiagnosis was done with malice a forethought?

My mum, hardly ever "bothered" (as she said) the doctors. Before she moved, she was housebound for a few years. To get even a district nurse to visit, was a joke. She should have been checked twice yearly, (blood pressure and thyroid check) She went about 4 years, with no visits. When she needed a doctor, ONCE, because she was very unwell, I actually had to argue with him, over the phone, before he would come and visit. He was insisting she should get down to the surgery. She was then 90, and as I said housebound. I changed surgerys as soon as possible.

Doctors are just like anyone else, some good, some you wouldn't let wash your car.
My wife hated her Doctor, said he was a slimy sod, yet, one day she woke up with blurred vision, she's a diabetic, the surgery just said "come straight in" the Doctor said "I've booked you in the hospital for a consultation go now".
    We'll never call him again.
re the case mentioned, I'd have phoned an ambulance. But sincere condolences to those affected, they are not all stroppy shits like me.

in general most doctors want to help their patients. cost cutting is the only thing that stops them providing the best care possible.

have a DR like mine who speaks to me as an equal, unlike my old dr who thought he was some kind of god, I call the surgery and she comes to me (only if I am unable to go myself)her bedside manner can be a bit gruff but otherwise she is great

I got high blood pressure, as most people over 25 will have these days, the GP was right, the 999 service should have been called instead. Good gawd, just read he was only 48! Bugger.
