Re: Stopping smoking
I did not start smoking until I was 28, stupid bleeda, I stopped at just turned 40.
I had a problem with my throat and breathing and got scared shixless, it was fear that made me stop.
Incidentally there was nothing really wrong with me. After a couple of weeks I felt a lot better and vowed to keep off fagz.
IT IS IN THE MIND, JUST STOP.
So many of my mates smoked in those days but hardly any of them do now.
I used food as a substitute for not smoking, how I enjoyed my food, still do, I did put on weight and got a bit too fat, reasonable nowadays.
Smoking MUST be something you wanna stop, it is not any good trying to reduce it and end up just kidding yourself,
STOP COMPLETELY.
Once you get by the first week it becomes easier.
Do not say I WILL JUST HAVE ONE
because you will not stop that way.
JUST STOP.
Get the government booklet about smoking.
JUST STOP.
Whether this helps or not,
JUST STOP, You can do it.
Good luck and good health, A_B.

Re: Stopping smoking
Once everything has left your system (I think that takes about two weeks), it gets easier because the cravings are totally different. In the first two weeks your body craves cigs, but after that it's more of a want so you feel you have a choice then. I still think about them, sometimes all day, but I don't want them anymore.
The one negative is that I'm really tired all the time. I seem to always be doing something so never have proper rests. I can't just sit, especially when I see something that needs doing because it makes me feel lazy.
Re: Stopping smoking
Sounds like you need a lobotomy.![]()

Re: Stopping smoking
I don't know what you mean. I sleep at night, but don't really have rests during the day (sitting down rests, not laying down sleeping). I have no problem sleeping at night.

Re: Stopping smoking
Well done, Willy!
I don't know how long I've been stopped for because I usually shout and ask my husband. I'm not speaking to him at the moment though, so I can't ask him.![]()
