Don't get me started on plods.
In another life I was the officer in charge of a fire engine.
We went to a road traffic accident in a rough area of Manchester.
The wounded had gone in the ambulances and one of my blokes found the woman drivers handbag, he brought it to me.
I took it personally to the plod in charge and handed it over, he just said, "I don't want it" as we were going back to the station I just handed it to him again and said "you're the ones who can deal with it"
As we drove away I saw him fling it back into the car which was never going to be picked up until the day after.
It was middle of the night in a shit-hole part of Manchester.

When I got married for the first time we saved up and bought a new Citroen 2CV, YES...Noddy car.
A lad I worked with, his girlfriend had one. We were selling ours at the time. He said his girlfriend had been visited by Greater Manchester Police. It appears that an NCP car park attendant had been murdered down south, a 2CV was spotted in the area.
The local force decided that, as the cars were relatively rare in the country, they would issue an all UK police forces doodah to interview all owners.
Mine had by then gone and a few weeks later I was standing outside the house washing me current car.
Car pulls up, bod gets out "Mr Wyatt, do you own a Citroen 2CV?"
"Oh, is it about the murder?"
His eyes flashed up 3 cherries as he thought he'd sorted it.
We discussed it and he took details of where I worked etc and he went.
Weeks later I was at work, it was about 10pm, my appliance was in the station, phone went.
My mate answers and says to me "Copper here wants to know if you were at works on some date absolutely yonks ago"
I just nodded. "Yes mate, he was at work"
Massive enquiry potentially dashed cos some lazy bone-idle plod can't be arsed.
We've got the monkeys, just hope we pay 'em peanuts.

They used to say that 2CV's were like by vegetarians cos they didn't go fast enough to kill anything.

I have said this before on a forum, which one, who knows.

When you go around the back of a police station you will see loads of police cars just standing idle. It makes me believe with all these cars standing doing nowt do they really need as many.
It appears that each police officer has there own police vehicle.

Call me a pedant but I noticed that the spokesman apologised for any 'unnecessary suffering' ... Does that not imply that there was some necessary suffering?
