Paul Nicholson, 39, used threats and weapons to force hundreds of thousands of pounds from vulnerable people, charging them interest of up to 150% on loans.

When one woman could not pay he threatened to petrol-bomb her home and another distraught debtor was told: "Your priority is to pay me, not feed your kids.

Nicholson, who lived in a £1million house next to a golf course in Delamere, Cheshire, also forced a woman who owed him money to perform a sex act on him.

The former nightclub doorman was convicted at Warrington Crown Court last month of 18 charges including rape, 12 counts of blackmail, lying about his criminal record, operating without a licence and assault.

loan sharks are scumbags that prey on the vulnerable,they normally lend to people who can not get a loan through normal channels so they know the people are unlikely to be able to afford the extortionate amounts they have to repay,Here we have a thing called friendship here if we need something our friends helps us and vice versa

Why do people still fall for the loan shark. The Credit Union is nation wide and always eager to open new branches in areas where no alternative exists.

I suppose if someone is desperate enough, they will use desperate methods. Not everyone who finds themselves in debt, is necceserally to blame. Unemployment, high mortgages, soaring bills, ect, ect, all have a part to play.
I dont know any loan sharks, if I did, Yes, I would report them, without hesitation. Whether anything would be done, who knows. If it was a member of my family on the recieving end, we would sort it out between ourselves.

The fact that there are plenty of legal loan sharks seems to escape people ... Provindent, with an APR of 189.2%, and the like are an abomination that prey on the uncredit-worthy with official sanction.
