I actually agree with Freeby on this, perhaps not for the same reasons.
Charity munching nobs me off, period. It's not that I'm tight, I admire generosity, but the vast majority of these "good causes" shouldn't even require charity.
Some of these organisations should be funded properly by the Government, not rely on handouts.
But there are certain aspects of Children in Need that simply piss me off. I watched the telethon one year and saw a film about some family that had a genetic defect in their DNA. They were told well in advance by their doctors that any children they produced would have a 50% chance of being born severely handicapped.
Everyone is entitled to reproduce, but this family munching annoyed me. Their first child was sadly born severely disabled, now I'm not a monster enough to just say "tough shit", but they continued to try for a child until they eventually produced four children three of which required constant care. Then they appear on our TV screens tugging at our heart strings trying to get our money!
I just thought, what a munching reckless and thoughtless thing to do, and then expect everyone else to pull them out of the shit.
Most of these "Children in Need" are someone's responsibility. OK, some are orphaned and genuinely need help, that's what we pay our taxes for. In a civilised society those kids should be getting proper care, without the need for handouts.
And as for the others, it's another example of people not taking responsibility for their actions. Half-wits and munchnuts spawn their vile offspring the length and breadth of the country, and someone else has to take responsibility for their actions. I just don't think these hairbears should be encouraged.
And to cap it all that cheeky muncher Wogan gets paid something like £12,000 for the night's work. He should donate that, the greedy Irish flower.
