Ship Simulator 2008 is a naval simulator game which is the much anticipated sequel to the surprise simulator hit of last year.

This bigger and better version now includes many new features such as new ships and harbours, but also open sea missions and advanced weather conditions including realistic waves!

The game title isn't cryptic, this is a simulation game where you take the helm of different types of ship in different locations to test your sailing skills.

The game boasts very detailed and impressive graphics of real life locations, and once you've figured out the basic controls it's a doddle to get to grips with. There are one or two tricky missions thrown in to really test your skills though.

The full list of features are as follows:

• Ocean waves, with realistic ship motion.
• Advanced day, night and weather systems.
• Visible damage on ships after a collision.
• Long-distance trips between harbours.
• Walkthrough options on all new ships.
• New navigation instruments, including a depth meter.
• Advanced towing and mooring rope operations.
• Complex and challenging missions, including ship chases, container loading and exciting rescue operations.
• Advanced navigation charts based on 3D seabed models, with zoom and full screen options.
• Free-roam option.
• Seven sailing areas, three brand new to this issue.
• A choice of thirteen different vessels.
