The Return of Dan Dare

Dan Dare is set to return, written by comic book genius Garth Ennis with artwork by Gary Erskine.

Garth Ennis was the talent behind the classic Preacher books, if anyone can make a success of this iconic charcter's return it's him.

There seems to be a lot of these "retro" things coming back, and why not? I think we went through a period in the 80s and 90s of thinking that we knew everything and anything "old" was not good enough, when there is a lot of this stuff which is iconic and will outlast most of the stuff produced in those two decades.

I always thought Dan dare was shit. I used to get Eagle when I was a kid, and it was piss-poor. Mekon was OK though.

But anything Ennis touches will be gold, he's fucking brilliant.

I think they're going right back to Dare being an RAF pilot, rather than the futuristic version. I'm hoping it will be shit hot.
