    Default Unearthly powers

“It was the afternoon of my eighty-first birthday, and I was in bed with my catamite when Ali announced that the archbishop had come to see me.” — Anthony Burgess, Earthly Powers

Wonderful opening of a novel and I remember getting the book out. Didn't enjoy it though. Too deep for me.

I am monitored off my sites now - no matter what I say. So I am thinking of the first sentence of my new book on Liberty In Great Britain.

I was mulling over - "The MoP came to the younger me and said we are going to put you in a cupboard until the Suez crisis is sorted out. Ok?" I am still there but I am hopeful.

Anyone play that old game Duke Nuke 'em?

As you play it and slaughter endless baddies - the Duke utters inane masculine platitudes. One just came to mind as almost apt. Just imagine my voices carry over water.

    "You want some?"

    No offence, CJ. Much!

Burgess, not the easiest of reads. Wait till they make a movie from it.

Do I want to know what a catamite is I wonder?

I didn't see how "The English Patient" book could be made but the late Anthony Minghella did a wonderful job with it.

In doing research for my book "Unearthly Powers" I made my way to my film site.

"War!" the first word up and I chuckle as I try and work out why the missus is co-operating with idiots!

Cameras still rolling - catering and lighting vans in place but no foldaway chair with "Anan" on the back.

The mixed race English sort of loss his patience when a cyclist brought to his attention a BMW with the words J rot + a specific media date of infamy on it. And another man told me it was My American Friend's Aspen all about me. Inn DJ when I got home too.

The Yo faction - and BBC now - know exactly what they can do, don't they? Who is the next nation I have to answer too?

There are stories of actual well known people entering a competition for lookalikes to themselves and not figuring at all? We judges presumably have a fixed image of Elvis, Jim Morrison etc and if either were still alive - they wouldn't win!

    Imposters?

Walking past one of my childcare home roads - I thought as I looked at th Sentinel - this is the Sixth Day scenario isn't it?

End of Days - more like. Where is Gabriel Byrne I wondered?

Can you imagine how difficult it is to write how that sort of misunderstanding can happen? The back story - the cost - the stupidness of fighting to prove you are - Elvis!

For someone who wants nowt to do with legal circles - someone seems encircled - and all unknowing?

Size doesn't matter. How many months has this giant organisation run around chasing its own tail at the behest of vested interest. I thought only the British were behaving like "burkes".

How much money and time has been wasted by same large organisation following "duff leads"?

I am unimpressed by large organisations who are led by the unwise. They are just large organisation.

I passed a set of two ATMs and patted myself down to show whoever I still haven't been personally paid. I went there once fully expecting ...........

The Radio today kindly gave the background of that infamous "Cantona assaults a Crystal Palace fan" business. So long ago now but I am still with Eric.

The stuff shouted at players must be very hard to bear. ALL PLAYERS but Gerrards treatment the other day was highlighted when he went to take corners. I feel for all professionals.

Two years now I thought near those ATMs of being jeered at. "Off to the dressing room with you?" Yeah and the rest - allegedly.

The world has turned 360 degrees but here I still was. Near my film site - my child care home - my playground (wonderful place still though) - my cameo part still unknown in whatever and still being filmed for retakes because the other stuff was half hearted.

Two years ago. Damn. Did I tell you about that emaciated cat viewing me talking to two helpful women outside Number 50 - and being told by one of them "I didn't turn out so bad!"?

I like to think that is/was true. Who was that for then? I was sure the moggy was a prop.

So press ups man - no Roses in the garden and fim makers. Know I fall over regularly because of what you all do and do not understand why? It is like my heart turns to rock and I cannot function. I do not kick fans but my art takes its toll and it seems that adverts telling me Ed. My Story - As Long as it takes are just NOT ENOUGH.

How does that work? You offer free adverts to good causes and get "Lewis" to narrate them? I am all for that at least. And the eyebrow raising? A pint and a half of joy? Hmmm.

As I said yesterday. Adverts. They puzzle me but do not help. They are just excuses.

Anagrams do not mean a thing. I said it out loud on my last but one visit to London - to be heard.

Richard Stilgoe used to show how apt they could be just asking someone their full name. Richard didn't have the Internet in the earlier days - as I do.

But listening to the voices on C-Span - USA TV show - some angry voices - I thought how angry I must sound sometime and absolutely bonkers! Well I would sign a petition to agree to those points.

Being so sure of myself. But it is my real life I hope and anagrams - the ones in my Sunday newspaper all seem a hoot - but were duly noted over my wife's shoulder

Soft drinks, shops, banks etc. Bars clay let us say. Sch dot, Set Co But they are only anagrams. Experience matters - It is a nicer Isa etc etc. Was that Peter F role in there too?

But those C-Span voices that are angry - I suspect cannot be made to believe anything they do not want to. I hope I would be more amenable to argument then those brief phone calls suggest about a very few of the callers.

The Code. Books, films, official child care papers - Bob Hope mentioned just now doing his best for USO before his death - United Services Organisation isn't it? Mr Hope could sort of be included in a cameo role in one of those two books mentioned. Great USA patriot Bob Hope. Respect).

To one angry lady caller - I must assume that Gary Sinise must have done several of his reported activities for USO under George Bush's watch but lady caller wasn't having that assumption - allegedly. Her view seemed to suggest that "celebrities" weren't helping USO during that 8 years as much and it was a great insult to President Bush?

My Unearthly Powers sometimes fail me but I kicked around a few of those paper adverts - Rose Awe - Met OO etc.

Subject: will take her - oh barnacle it is sponge robert
Anagram: Till her wake - Honest - Peters Bar logic - ran Bio

    Till her wake?

That one has to be wrong I think. Oh yes. Let us wait politely for that.

    April 17th perhaps.

    Lethal - we irk? Better.

Brow beaten by USA Jordans? Why? For telling my own life? I am being interviewed Apprentice like to reclaim it? Oh Ambassador - you spoil us.
