I am needing to buy a wireless router but I don't have a clue about them!

Any recommendations?

Try this:

20 plus postage. It's a bargain.

I've always used Netgear, they are a good brand.

It doesn't say what the range is on that one though and I need it to go upstairs. Cheap though. :)

Thanks guys, I'm off to get one now... so I'll avoid the Belkin and probably get the netgear. :)

Good luck! I'd avoid PC world, they don't have a clue what they're talking about in there. ;)

:D I usually get everything from ebay :o I want to get a half decent router though... don't want it cutting off all the time. There's only really PC world, staples, curry's or dixons.

Staples and Curry's are in the same area so I might try them. :)

The range on the Thomson is fine. An upstairs/downstairs configuration is a breeze. I run one PC upstairs and one down and the signal strength is as good as it can be.

Best of all it's only 20.

Cheers, did it take long to get delivered?

4 Working days. I've had it about 3 months and highly recommend the model. Setup is so easy it's not true. A wizard runs when you first plug it in and away you go.

Thanks The Mob, Mr M*, Timey and Gonzo.

I've just been and bought the Netgear because I wanted it before Monday. It was only 50 and has the adapter for the PC with it. :D

Another vote here for the Netgear. One of the jobs I have is installing wireless routers in people's homes, and I've always found the netgear to be the most reliable and easy to setup.

I've got wireless, but haven't a clue if there's a router anywhere?

There's a square box on a pole, fitted to the chimney stack, pointing towards a mast somewhere and a cable running to and from it, but nothing else??

I've owned 2 Belkin items and they were both rubbish.

I've got a Belkin and I'm lucky if I can access 75% of websites.

Last time I downloaded a fix it broke my laptop so I had to do a system restore.

I now have to put up with 75% access :o

I've set the Netgear router up now, it was only two disks, one for the router and one for the adapter. It was idiot proof, luckily, and is all working fine.

Very happy with it... thanks for all the feedback. :)

I looked at the Belkin, D Link and Linksys (sp?) but the netgear had the best features... and it was the cheapest because there was an offer on. :)

I ended up getting it from PC world.... I just asked the guy if it was compatible with the typr of connection I had so he didn't bullshit me too much. :D

Why don't you just get a new one?

Why don't you just get a new one?

2 reasons:

1: I'm a lazy cow, and
2: I'm sure to hash it up and get no bloody internet...so 75% it is then :D
